We’re back in business, as of today! Whahoo! It’s been hard for me to figure out what to put on the blog, because it’s public, but you guys also care so much. So with that, I’ll just say I haven’t been feeling well with fibromyaliga, but we’re on top of the world loving each other!

On to our super speller! I was an okay speller as a kid. I had to work at it. Getting good grades (for those of you that know me) was obviously important to me. The difference between Noelle/Mike and me is that I had to work my butt off for my 100’s, whereas they just somehow already knew/know the right answers. It makes me so sick (that there are Mike’s/Noelle’s out there), but so stinkin’ proud! I think I’ve talked on the blog before about celebrating all children and their strengths, because each of us have things we ourselves excel at as well as our children, be it sports, music, art, reading, math, writing, the list goes on and on. I’m so proud of so many of our special friends and all their amazing talents, and today, I’m so very proud of our fashionista that she loves to spell, that words are like puzzles for her, that she enjoys it and won’t have it any other way than to get all of the words correct.

When Thursdays roll around (the day before test day), I’ll go over the spelling words with her one time and once I know she’s got them, I say, “We’re good to go!” And she’ll gasp and be like, “What about the challenge words?” But I’m changing Rose’s diaper and hearing Anna Kate screaming about Rose getting into her dress-up trunk, so I’m usually a tiny bit over extended. Since the challenge words are extra credit, I’ll say, “If you want them, go study them. You can do it!” Sure enough, she comes home with big fat 100’s on the backs of her tests each and every week!

I remember struggling with the word ‘because’ so much in 2nd grade that I wrote it on the inside of my desk so that anytime I had to write a paper, I didn’t have to slow down my thoughts to figure out how to spell that pesky word that always came back around. She is definitely her Daddy’s child in this subject! And, although she won’t get a prize or certificate this year for spelling, I notice, and I am thankful she tries her best at everything that she is given. And if she does bring home a bad grade in a different subject, we’ll talk about it, study and go over it, but first, I always ask her if she tried her best, if she says “Yes” and means it (which she always does), that’s all that truly matters to us. May we adults always try our best in all that we do and say too!

<img loading="lazy" title="IMG_9469" style="border-top: 0px;
