We wear periwinkle in recognition of our Uncle Jim who is battling Esophageal cancer (periwinkle is the ribbon color for that type of cancer). It has been brutal on him and our Aunt Joe. They are on the front lines of battle right now, and our entire family is rallying behind them in hopes of a big victory.
