I’ve had a blast hanging out with Anna Kate on Mondays so far this year!  Today, we had a pj day (this picture is from Saturday).  She’s my doll baby!  Anna Kate is reading up a storm!  She gets intimidated, but when she steps back and uses her letter sounds for words she hasn’t already memorized, she gets the word almost every time.  The hard part is getting her to attempt a word she is not familiar with, but when she tries and gets the word correct, she is so proud of herself!  It’s fun to watch her excitement!  We use Mondays to read read read!  It’s great to have some one-on-one time to concentrate. 

We play pretend store almost every day!  Anna Kate named our store “Fabulous and Glorious!”  She’ll answer her little phone and say, “Fabulous and Glorious!  This is Anna Kate.  How may I help you today?”  She’s so creative and so much FUN!  Lately she’s been singing the first part of the Christmas carol, “Tis the season to be jolly…” but instead of those words, she’s sings so loudly, “Kiss the season to be jolly!”  She and I get so tickled about it and laugh and laugh.  She doesn’t know it’s not “Kiss the season” and I’m sure not going to tell her!  She just giggles because she knows she is cute!  That song is totally stuck in her head for some reason (maybe it’s because we keep laughing about it)!  One more funny thing Anna Kate said the other day, was, “Mom, I know why they call penguins, penguins!”  “Oh yeah,” I said.  “Because they are PINK ones.” and she held up a pink penguin that she has on one of her necklaces.  She’s been thinking about words and what they mean a lot lately.  It’s cool seeing her put so much together, even if penguins are mostly black and white, lol!  She’s trying to make sense of it all.  Aren’t we all!?! 

Anna Kate, please please please never change.  You are so perfectly you, from head to toe.  I’m in awe of your clever humor and your spunk.  You are a sweetheart, a beautiful girl on the inside and out, and we all love you very much!  Keep doing your thing, Anna Kate!  You’re great!
